National Tequila Day: Without her a margarita will not be a margarita. Today is National Tequila Day, July 24. Tequila is a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant which can only be manufactured in approved Mexican areas.
It is one of the ingredients in a popular margarita. Tequila shots are common too.
According to delish.com, “a bottle must be at least 51 percent blue agave (agave tequilana) to be classified as tequila-the higher the percentage of blue agave, the finer the bottle.”
And there is plenty of tequila lovers out there, including those six celebrities who have their own spirit brands.
JAJA: The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, are joint owners of JAJA tequila with Maurice and Elliot Tebele and Martin Hoffstein.
According to its website, JAJA is made with “traditional processes and environmentally friendly production.” According to a press release, JAJA’s three varieties, Blanco, Reposado and Añejo, “are produced using slow non-industrial methods at a heritage distillery led by a group of distillers with over 50 years of industry experience.”
Santo Fino Blanco Tequila: Guy Fieri and Sammy Hagar
Santo Tequila Blanco “is made of only the finest 100 percent Blue Weber Agave from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico,” according to the website.
The tequila is described as smooth, with “earthy, white pepper and citrus aromas,” made with El Viejito’s master distiller Juan Eduardo Nunez.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Teremana Tequila
According to the website, Teremana means “spirit of the earth.” Local artisans handcrafted the copper pots used to make the tequila. The company aims not only at a smooth taste of tequila but also at sustainability by composting the left over agave fibers to be used as fertilizer for the agave fields.
The Tequila is “made by hand, in small lots.”
Nick Jonas, single villa
National Tequila Day: According to villaonetequila.com, the star collaborated with fashion designer John Varvatos to produce the “ultra-premium, hand made tequila.” “These creatives from the worlds of music and fashion, respectively, came together over a love for tequila and for experiencing ‘life as it should be,’ with friends old and new, one glass at a time.”
Michael Jordan, Cincoro Tequila
This tequila is one of the most expensive in 2019 according to Forbes. “Cincoro now ranks among today’s most popular tequila brands. The $130 aged retails, a higher-priced alternative to Don Julio 1942 ($120). And Jordan’s favorite in the new line, Extra Añejo from Cincoro is in rare air — at $1,600 a bottle, “Forbes posted.
According to the website, “Cincoro Tequila by Michael Jordan is made exclusive from both the highland and lowland regions of Jalisco, Mexico, with the highest quality 100 per cent Blue Weber agave. The agave is individually picked by hand, slow-cooked, distilled and barrel-aged in underground cellars before being artfully blended into a single exceptional tequila. This is Cincoro ‘s heart: a naturally rich and delicious tequila family with an ultra-smooth long finish to a taste unlike any other.
Ambhar Tequila: Chris Noth
In 2018 Actor Chris Noth took over the company Ambhar Tequila. According to the website, the Ambhar decanter “is distinctly made of heavy, virgin glass, shaped in a shape reminiscent of the canteens used by Old West cowboys to hold their ‘Mexican brandy.’ An elegant horseshoe is built into the design to give luck to all those who drink from the bottle.” The tequila is made in small quantities using “century-old recipes.”
